The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has presented an Award of Excellent Performance to Mojisola Adeyeye, director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), in recognition of her contributions to public health regulation and industry development.
The award was presented at a breakfast roundtable organised by NACCIMA at Providence Hotel in Lagos, where Adeyeye spoke about the agency’s regulatory reforms and efforts to balance consumer protection with ease of doing business.
According to a statement by NAFDAC, the meeting brought together members of the association, business leaders and other stakeholders from the organised private sector.
In her address, Adeyeye highlighted the agency’s regulatory processes and reforms, saying its science-driven and transparent framework was designed to support businesses while ensuring that products available to Nigerians meet required safety and quality standards.
Industry representatives at the meeting commended her leadership and efforts to combat fake and substandard medicines, as well as the agency’s role in regulating products across the country.
NACCIMA presented the award in recognition of what it described as Adeyeye’s performance and contributions to industry and the fight against counterfeit and substandard products.
The recognition comes amid the continuing challenge of ensuring that medicines and other regulated products meet safety and quality standards while businesses navigate regulatory requirements.
NAFDAC is responsible for regulating and controlling the manufacture, importation, exportation, distribution, advertisement, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, packaged water, chemicals and detergents in Nigeria.
The agency has also been involved in efforts to strengthen the country’s response to counterfeit and substandard medicines, a challenge with implications for public health and confidence in the pharmaceutical supply chain.
