Ken Paxton's campaign has slammed a New York Times investigation into his relationship with Christian influencer Tracy Duhon as 'disgusting' and 'invasive' after the report revealed she's registered as a Democrat in Louisiana.
Duhon, who has been building a life with the Texas Attorney General while his wife, Angela, divorced him on 'biblical grounds,' has largely stayed out of sight during his Senate campaign.
The Times on Tuesday ran a profile of Duhon with the headline, 'The Christian Influencer at the Center of Ken Paxton’s New Life.'
The piece revealed that Duhon is not registered to vote in Texas, and state voting records show she's a registered Democrat in Louisiana.
Paxton's campaign spokeswoman Madison Cercy dismissed the Times investigation in a statement to the outlet.
'This is a disgusting, invasive story that has nothing to do with the issues Texans care about,' Cercy said. 'The attorney general’s personal life is not a campaign issue, and we won’t dignify it with a response.'
She declined to answer questions about Paxton and Duhon and instead raised questions about his Democratic rival James Talarico's dating history.
The two reportedly began dating in May 2024 after meeting at the Kentucky Derby, while both were still married to other people, according to earlier reporting by the Daily Mail.

The pair have been spotted traveling together, including a European getaway to Iceland and London over the Fourth of July weekend, and they're linked to a five-bedroom home in a gated community in Frisco, north of Dallas.
Paxton recently used the property as his mailing address, according to the report, which cites local government records and people familiar with the relationship.
The revelations about his girlfriend's political party affiliation come as Paxton faces Democrat James Talarico in a high-stakes toss-up Senate race that could help determine control of the chamber.
The latest RealClearPolitics polling average puts Talarico ahead of Paxton by 1.8 points.
A recent Fox News poll found the pair tied at 49 percent each, while a Univision/YouGov survey gave Talarico a five-point lead, 50 percent to 45 percent.
Paxton has struggled to win over independents and even some fellow Republicans as he battles to keep the seat in GOP hands, amid a long history of legal and political scandals.
He was indicted on felony securities fraud charges in 2015, later settling the case in 2024 without admitting wrongdoing.
In 2023, the Texas House impeached him over allegations that he abused his office to help political donor Nate Paul, including claims involving a home renovation and a job for a woman he was accused of having an affair with.
Paxton was acquitted in his Senate impeachment trial and has denied wrongdoing.
Duhon, an aspiring Christian influencer, has built a public profile around faith, family and redemption.
She co-founded the Christian nonprofit Giving Hope NOLA with her ex-husband, prominent Louisiana car dealer Troy Duhon.

In 2023 she co-hosted a religious marriage retreat at $799 a couple.
A year later both marriages were over.
Her 2025 book covers loss, betrayal, three divorces and God’s plan, but says nothing about Paxton or his wife.
The Duhon's have four surviving children and suffered the loss of two children shortly after birth, according to the Times.
The outlet also reports that Paxton has visited the New Orleans area at least five times since mid-2024.
His office documented official business for two trips but had no records for the other three, during which Texas was billed more than $13,000 for his security detail.
Paxton's wife, Angela, filed for divorce in July 2025, saying that recent discoveries had convinced her it was not right to remain in the marriage.
The couple had reportedly not lived together as spouses since June 2024.

In the ad, funded by a super PAC affiliated with Senate Republican leadership, the Texas state senator said the election was about getting 'the whole team across the finish line,' rather than focusing on individual candidates.
Paxton's allies have defended him as a Christian man who can support religious values in public policy despite personal failings.
The Daily Mail reached out to Paxton's campaign for comment.
