… Sets December 10 deadline to upload all PDP Agents on INEC portals

Ahead of the 2027 general election, the People’s Democratic Party PDP has warned its agents not to betray the party at the polls by abandoning their jobs to work for other parties.

This is just as the party, on Monday, appealed to party officials to ensure that they properly scrutinise those to be engaged as Polling Agents to ensure that they are committed to the party

The party also set December 10 as the deadline for all the PDP Agents to be uploaded on the portals of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC

The party said it wants to work ahead of INEC’s December 17, 2026 deadline for the upload to ensure adequate preparations for the 2027 elections

Abdulrahman Mohammed, the party’s National Chairman, while speaking at the opening of the training and capacity building for Uploading of Agents, noted that elections are won and lost at the polling units and urged the Agents to be laser-focused

” I know some of you who are here are used to the election process, but you know the election process keeps changing. Today, we have upgraded from the manual system to the electronic system and most especially in this coming election, there are a lot of developments that have to do with electronic activities

“So, I want all of you to be focused and get back to your various states to give the same training to our people so that it can be extended to our various local governments and wards

At the training, which was attended by 8 State Secretaries, 21 Organising Secretaries, and 25 ICT officers, the party Chairman noted that the training will be in four phases.

“This is the first phase of the training. The other ones will take place in our various states, our local governments and those of wards and polling units.

“The importance of this training is to let you know that elections today start from the polling units, where we rely on our agents and canvassers across the polling units.

He therefore appealed to the party members to be focused

Umar Bature, the party’s National Organising Secretary, described the roles of Uploading Agents as ” very important in the election process”,

“We just finished the battle with INEC over uploading of candidates, and you can see, INEC are doing whatever they want to do, particularly after that Supreme Court judgment.

“So we don’t want to also have the same challenges with agents. We have a window till, I think, the 17th of December, where all agents must be in in the portal. I crave your indulgence to get the best hands because we have issues when the election is coming. People become agents, and at the end of the day, they are also double agents, and we get our candidate stranded at some point

“So I think it’s important that you vet these candidates before you put them as agents. Anybody who has some tendencies of decamping or joining issues with other parties, please, he doesn’t need to be a brother or an in-law

“We need people who are committed party members. There are so many committed party members, but you don’t patronise them.

“Sometimes, they become a bit disgruntled. Please and please and please patronise those who are dedicated to this party. A lot of people are out there dedicated to this party. Please fish them out and select them as agents. The importance of timely submission of this list is very critical to all of us.

” We will work out the first week of December, that all agents nomination should be into the party. You will be the one who will be loading them from your state, and we will be the ones who will upload them into INEC. So, if we agree. Is it the agreement of the House on December 10th? I’m going to put it on record that you will agree on December 10th.

“So I don’t want to hear stories after December 10th that somebody has not uploaded, or somebody is bringing late upload. So December 10, December 10 is the last day for submission of agents”

He also appealed to the party officials to liaise with the INEC officials in their states if they face any challenge

” If there are any bigger challenges, you will get INEC to come and put people through in terms of. But it is a template that will be given by name, particular poll unit, and the picture of the agent because his tag will be given with his picture, and let him not go and sell it to other parties.

“Though sometimes people do this double-dealing. It’s an experience I have, and that’s why I’m emphasising it. Please do it for our party.”
