The African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership in the South-West has dismissed reports of an internal leadership crisis in the zone, reaffirming its commitment to the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The zonal leadership, in a statement on Monday, signed by Akin Omole, National Vice Chairman, and the six state chairmen, declared that there was “no rift, division or leadership crisis within ADC South-West.”

The leaders also dismissed reports that they held a virtual meeting with Atiku on September 5 to resolve an alleged disagreement, describing the claims as “false and fabricated.”

They said a meeting held in Ibadan on September 4 was strictly aimed at strengthening the party’s structures, grassroots mobilisation and electoral strategy across the region.

“We fully support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate. We recognise his leadership, political experience and national vision,” the statement said.

The leaders also expressed confidence in the political coordination of National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, insisting that consultations among stakeholders should not be misconstrued as evidence of disunity.

They accused political opponents of promoting divisive narratives to weaken the party, urging members to remain focused on securing victories across the six South-West states.

“ADC is united. There is no rift. There is no division. We are working together to deliver the South-West for Atiku Abubakar and all ADC candidates in 2027,” they declared.
