Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has expressed satisfaction with Fulham’s performance in their 1-1 Premier League draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, while admitting that the visitors missed an opportunity to claim all three points.
Aston Villa took the lead six minutes before half-time through Nicolas Jackson, who converted an assist from Johan Manzambi.
However, Fulham fought back to restore parity four minutes after the hour mark, with an own goal from Zion Suzuki bringing the visitors back into the contest.
Bassey Disappointed by Missed Opportunities
Despite being pleased with his team’s overall display, Bassey believes Fulham could have secured a better result had they been more clinical in front of goal.
The Nigerian international praised his teammates for their efforts against a quality Aston Villa side.

“A good away performance. We know how hard it is to come here against a team with a lot of quality. I’m proud of the boys; they did well,” Bassey told the club’s official website.
“We should have got more. We missed two chances inside the six-yard box. Of course, I know the boys are working their socks off to get into those positions and finish. We could have taken all three points, but we’ve got to keep positive.”
Fulham’s Team Chemistry Continues to Improve
The versatile defender also highlighted the growing understanding within the Fulham squad, crediting the team’s steady progress to hard work and a willingness to embrace the manager’s tactical approach.
Bassey believes the players are becoming increasingly familiar with one another’s roles and responsibilities, a development he hopes will translate into better performances in the coming weeks.
“Since the start of the season, we’ve been improving each week. Everyone is working hard and has bought into how the manager wants us to play, understanding each other. Hopefully, things keep going up from here,” he added.
Fulham have now taken seven points from their last three Premier League outings, conceding just once during that impressive run as they continue to build momentum.
