Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed confidence that the APC will secure victory in the 2027 general elections, declaring that the party has credible candidates with proven records of performance at all levels.
Yusuf asserted on Wednesday while inaugurating the APC presidential, governorship, National and State Assembly campaign council for Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.
Represented by his Special Adviser on National and International Relations, Muhammad Yusuf-Jamu, the governor said the party had candidates whose track records and antecedents would make them attractive to voters.
He described President Bola Tinubu as the party’s strongest selling point at the national level, arguing that the administration’s economic policies were beginning to stabilise the economy and create conditions for business growth.
According to him, the government has taken difficult but necessary decisions to rescue the economy, urging Nigerians to remain patient with the reforms, which he said would eventually translate into improved economic conditions and better living standards.
Yusuf also urged voters in Tarauni to support APC candidates contesting for the House of Representatives and the Kano State House of Assembly, saying their commitment to the rule of law and delivery of democratic dividends reflected the party’s ideals.
He called on party supporters to vote for APC candidates across all elective positions in the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, former Kano State Governor and APC Kano Central Senatorial candidate, Ibrahim Shekarau, urged members of the campaign council to intensify grassroots mobilisation and educate voters across the state on the party’s electoral symbol.
Shekarau stressed that the party’s success would depend on voters correctly identifying its candidates through the APC logo, the broom, on election day.
He noted that voters would not have the opportunity to see individual candidates or political leaders on the ballot, making public enlightenment on the party’s symbol essential to securing votes.
He said every vote would count in determining the outcome of the 2027 elections and urged campaign officials to reach communities across the state with the message.
In his remarks, APC candidate for Tarauni Federal Constituency, Nasir Bala Ja’oji, called for unity among party members, saying a coordinated campaign would be crucial to the party’s electoral success.
Ja’oji highlighted his interventions in healthcare, security and empowerment, pledging to intensify efforts to attract more development projects and democratic dividends to the constituency if elected into the House of Representatives.
Responding on behalf of other campaign council members, Director-General Sadiq Ado-Shugaba assured the governor and party leadership that the council would work tirelessly to secure victory for APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
