The United Kingdom is increasing the minimum funds international students must show for living expenses when applying for a student visa, with the new requirements taking effect on November 30, 2026. Students in London will need to demonstrate access to up to £14,130 for nine months, while those outside London will need up to £10,827, excluding tuition fees.

The change means Nigerian students planning to study in the UK will need to budget for higher living-cost requirements, alongside tuition, visa fees and other expenses.
