The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified two suspected cases of Ebola disease in Nigeria’s North-East region, with both individuals isolated as laboratory testing is conducted.
The agency disclosed this in an update posted on X on Saturday, adding that contact identification and listing were ongoing.

The NCDC clarified that the classification of the individuals as suspected cases does not mean they have been confirmed to have Ebola, stressing that confirmation is subject to laboratory results.
It advised Nigerians to maintain good hand hygiene, practise enhanced sanitation and follow guidance from public health authorities.
The agency said further updates would be provided as verified information becomes available.
Nigeria recorded an imported case of Ebola involving an Ugandan-born woman who travelled to Nigeria after visiting Uganda.

The patient, identified as the wife of a Swiss diplomat, tested positive for the Bundibugyo strain of the virus.
The patient and her husband were subsequently evacuated to Switzerland for further care and monitoring.
The federal government has targeted December to be declared Ebola free, meanwhile, the Health Organisation said Nigeria would need to complete a 42-day monitoring period without additional confirmed or probable cases before it could be declared free of the disease.
