AT&T’s smart home security system now integrates with Gemini for Home. The company says its Connected Life system is the “first” home security product to integrate with Google Home Premium, enabling a bunch of Gemini-powered features that can summarize home events, search your video history, and more.

With the update, Gemini for Home can provide detailed descriptions about events captured by your security cameras, such as who delivered a package and how many items they dropped off. You can also search recorded video footage using natural language questions, like “What dug up the yard last night?” or “Who let the dogs out?”, as well as review daily summaries of activity in and outside your home.

These features are only available with AT&T’s professional $29.99 / month Connected Life monitoring plan. AT&T is also adding the ability to automatically arm or disarm your home based on your proximity to your home.

AT&T launched its Connected Life system last December in partnership with Google and Abode. It’s now taking advantage of Google’s Gemini-powered Home APIs, which allow smart home brands and developers to build AI-powered features into their devices. ADT has also hinted at bringing Gemini for Home features into its security systems.

CEO Carl Pei says Nothing’s first ‘AI-native’ device ‘couldn’t have been an app.’

is a news writer covering all things consumer tech. Stevie started out at Laptop Mag writing news and reviews on hardware, gaming, and AI.

Nothing CEO Carl Pei said in a post on X that the company’s launching its first AI device in December. That’s just a little over a year after Pei announced plans for “AI-native” devices and an AI operating system. He didn’t give away much about what exactly the new device is, only that one feature it won’t have is a screen:

“Our first AI-native product ships next month. It’s a tool, but one built with the personality and care that have come to define a Nothing product. It has no new screen, and it couldn’t have been an app.”

Pei shared an image with the post that says “NOTHING(R)” in the top left corner, above an ambiguous black rounded corner. Last month, a rumor claimed Nothing is planning to launch two pairs of AI smart glasses, including one without cameras, and an earlier rumor said it’s “repositioning itself as an AI-first company” with a shift to AI accessories.

Nothing’s AI device wouldn’t be the first screen-free AI gadget, following the likes of the Humane AI pin, the Friend, and even AI stuffed animals. OpenAI is also reportedly working on an AI smart speaker with Jony Ive. Pei alluded to earlier AI devices, saying, “the whole industry is hunting for its iPhone moment: the pendant, the pin, the glasses, the companion, some magical consumer device that makes AI part of everyone’s life.” He added, “Looking for the iPhone of AI today is a dead end.”
