Bayelsa United Technical Adviser Abdul Maikaba has declared his side fully prepared to secure an immediate return to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) following an impressive preseason campaign ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

Maikaba’s remarks came on the heels of a dominant 4–1 friendly victory over Ogunbor United FA of Sapele, held at Southern Delta University in Ozoro, Delta State. The win served as a fitting climax to an encouraging preparation period that left the “Prosperity Boys” looking sharp and in peak condition.

Reflecting on the team’s overall form, the experienced tactician expressed immense satisfaction with his squad’s clinical edge in the final third.

“The boys have responded very well,” Maikaba said after the match.

“Scoring 35 goals in 10 games shows that we are creating and converting our chances. While we still need to fine-tune a few areas, overall, I am very satisfied with our progress.”
