Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has conceded that the injury sustained by marquee summer signing Carlos Baleba “doesn’t look great.”

The blow came during United’s dramatic 3–2 comeback win over Roma in the Champions League at Old Trafford on Tuesday, November 3. Carrick’s side rallied from two goals down to claim a crucial victory, their first win in nine matches across all competitions, providing much-needed relief for the 45-year-old manager.

However, the triumph was marred early in the second half when midfielder Baleba was forced off with what appeared to be a serious hamstring problem.

Addressing the media after the final whistle, Carrick offered a pessimistic early assessment of the midfielder’s condition.

“I haven’t got any more news on Carlos at this stage,” Carrick admitted.

“It’s his hamstring, so we’ll just have to assess what that looks like. Initially, it doesn’t look great. Timelines, I haven’t got much more to give you.”
