Popular progressive podcaster said she wants Barron and Tiffany Trump 'investigated' as ex-CNN star Jim Acosta laughs... then insists she isn't 'rabid'

A popular podcaster called for Barron and Tiffany Trump to be investigated as she sat down to discuss her new book with former CNN anchor Jim Acosta.

Jennifer Welch, host of the I've Had Enough podcast, stopped at Washington, DC, bookstore Politics and Prose to discuss her new book Not Today, Fascists with Acosta, where the pair discuss what they thought was wrong with the country.

While Welch expressed her disagreement with Congress approving Marco Rubio's appointment to the secretary of state role, Acosta brought up how minority leader Hakeem Jeffries had a meeting with Jared Kushner in August.

'Mr how many billions of dollars did he make in the Middle East, you know, while he's also trying to negotiate a peace deal? Give me a break,' Acosta said, referencing President Donald Trump's son-in-law.

Kushner has played a major role in the peace talks between the US and Israel in Gaza and in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

'I’m just gonna say it,' Welch shot back. 'I want Barron, Jared, I’m gonna throw Tiffany in, and of course "Dumb and Dumber." I want them all investigated. Every single one of them investigated.'

Welch went on to say, after a roar of applause, that she didn't have a 'rabid' 'Lock 'em up mentality,' just that she wanted them to 'have trials.'

'And I want, if they stole money or [there] were improper business dealings, all of their money taken away,' she said at the book event earlier this month.

Welch said she wanted Barron and Tiffany Trump to be investigated, as well as the rest of the family. 'If they stole money or were improper business dealings, all of their money taken away,' she said

'Lock some of them up, maybe?' Acosta chuckled as Welch cackled.

The Trump family's business ventures have been largely scrutinized, including by the president's 2016 opponent, Hillary Clinton, who recently called out the billionaire family for making loads of money while the Republican is back in the White House for a second term.

'The profit that the Trump family has made off of the presidency could actually pay for a full year of SNAP benefits for about 1.3 million people, more than 600 million free school lunches, or three months of groceries for the 5.2 million people who have been thrown off SNAP,' Clinton said on the podcast, On with Kara Swisher, last week.

'So that's putting it into, you know, very concrete terms. You're wasting your tax money. The corruption is rife. It's undermining government services, even our national defense.'

Trump reported making $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency ventures, according to Reuters. He's also made millions of dollars in oil and gas stock after the war in Iran began, CBS News reported, citing a government report.

Trump has an estimated net worth of $7 billion. He is estimated to be $2.7 billion richer than when he won the 2024 election, Forbes reported. It is the most anyone has made on politics in American history, the outlet said.

Welch and Acosta went on to diss Trump-friendly outlet, Fox, and anchor Jesse Watters, whom the pair called Lady Watters. They went on to label Fox's other hosts 'horny' over liberal Hasan Piker for the amount of airtime dedicated to him.

Welch's new book is published by Hanover Square Press, an imprint of HarperCollins – a publisher owned by Rupert Murdoch, who also owns Fox and News Corp.

Not Today, Fascists was published on October 6. The 'progressive atheist' uses the medium to discuss her 'unique perspective on the intersection of religion and politics in America,' the publisher said.

In the book, Welch argues that America is moving toward a theocracy and fascism and how the Trump Administration is 'hurting everyday Americans,' the publisher said.

'Not Today, Fascists will arm readers with the language and facts they need to discuss crucial political issues, to win elections and to take back our country,' it said.

'This book is for anyone who’s ready to have the tough conversations, win elections, and take back our country. I can’t wait for you to read it,' Welch wrote in April when she announced the book's then-upcoming release.

The book has made The New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Welch and the White House for comment.
