Tom Brady will make an emotional homecoming this weekend when he returns to New England as a broadcaster for the first time since retiring from football.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion will serve as colour commentator for Fox Sports at Gillette Stadium for the first time when the Patriots face the Green Bay Packers, live on Sky Sports NFL from 9.25pm.
Brady appeared at nine Super Bowls and won six across a historic 20-year career with the Patriots, accompanying Bill Belichick to forge one of the NFL's greatest dynasties.
"I get to be there to watch it in person in front of a very friendly home crowd, I'm very excited," Brady said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
"It'll be certainly emotional. I mean, every inch of that stadium, I've been through so many times.
"From the locker rooms to the media rooms to the field. Just so many memorable plays in that stadium. Big games, championship games and rivalry games, division-clinching games."
Brady, drafted with the 199th overall pick at the 2000 NFL Draft, won three MVP awards while passing for 74,571 yards and 541 touchdowns before leaving in 2019.
He subsequently joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he won his seventh Super Bowl ring in his first season with the team.
"To be back there and to really understand what that Patriot organisation is all about and to convey that to the fans in a way where I'm not talking about myself, I'm really talking about this awesome program that's been built," Brady continued.
"And the Patriots just always seem to do things the right way."
The Patriots enter Sunday's game 5-3 and second in the AFC East as they strive to remain in Super Bowl contention after falling at the final hurdle against the Seattle Seahawks in February's season finale.
It awaits as a matchup of the two franchises with the winningest records in the NFL since the Packers beat the Patriots at Super Bowl XXXI at the end of the 1996 season. The Patriots have built a league-best record of 327-166 over the 30 years since that game, followed by Green Bay's regular-season return of 310-180-3.
New England won all six of their Super Bowls in that time and reached the playoffs in 22 of 30 years, while the Packers clinched two Championships and have also made the playoffs on 22 occasions in the last three decades.
