Cardinals upset Rams as Eagles lose Hurts - five things from NFL week six

NFL: Jalen Hurts could miss rest of season, Arizona Cardinals stun Los Angeles Rams

The Eagles were already struggling with injuries before last Sunday's loss to Jacksonville at Tottenham.

They then revealed that quarterback Hurts played that game with a superficial blood clot in his calf, and a follow-up ultrasound showed it had moved, so back-up Tanner McKee came in for his third NFL start at home to the Carolina Panthers.

Tight end Tommy Tremble scored his first two touchdowns of the season as the Panthers won 25-14, meaning the Eagles have lost four straight games for the first time since Nick Sirianni became head coach in 2021.

It was then revealed on Monday, external that Hurts has been diagnosed with "deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli", which means he has multiple blood clots in his lungs.

The 2025 Super Bowl MVP is having treatment and his recovery will take at least three months so NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has reported Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The Eagles also lost offensive linemen Lane Johnson (retirement) and Cam Jurgens (traded to Baltimore) two weeks ago.

After reaching two of the past four Super Bowls, many Philly fans fear this could be the end of an era.
