Casio announced a new addition to its Casiotone line of portable electronic keyboards with a feature that could help aspiring musicians master skills like rhythm and timing without the frustrations or discouragement of hitting the wrong note.
The Casiotone CT-FS1 is available now for $399.99 in a monochromatic black or white version where even the 61 touch-responsive keys are all the same color. It can run on AA batteries or a power adapter but at just under 10 pounds in weight it’s definitely not the smallest of portable keyboards. There’s built-in stereo speakers and Bluetooth connectivity if you’re playing for others, as well as a physical headphone jack.
The keyboard’s most compelling feature is what Casio calls its Feel Sync technology that works alongside a new Feel Sync mobile app available for iOS and Android devices. Through the app you can import a song file which is analyzed by an algorithm before playing through the keyboard. As you play along with the song the keyboard will only produce notes that match the song’s harmony, no matter what keys you press. You’re still responsible for timing and matching the song’s rhythm, but the keyboard takes care of everything else so you can work on developing your creative expression without being self-conscious about it sounding awful.
The CT-FS1 can be played like a standard keyboard without the Feel Sync assistance, but because it’s long enough to accommodate two musicians, you can also split the keyboard into two zones. One side works like a traditional keyboard for an experienced musician to play, while the other benefits from the real time Feel Sync corrections.

Leaker Digital Chat Station claims the iPhone 18 won’t be spared from Apple’s RAM price hikes.
Leaker Digital Chat Station claims the iPhone 18 won’t be spared from Apple’s RAM price hikes.
After Apple raised iPhone prices earlier this year, a new rumor claims it plans to launch the base iPhone 18 with a higher price, too. A Weibo post from leaker Digital Chat Station, spotted by 9to5Mac, says the base iPhone 18 is getting a couple upgrades with the price hike, including a larger battery and a new 2-nanometer A20 chip. However, it reportedly won’t have the smaller Dynamic Island featured on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
The base iPhone 18 wasn’t included in Apple’s fall iPhone launch event, but Digital Chat Station claims it will arrive early next year, in line with previous reports. It’s rumored to launch alongside a second-gen iPhone Air and the iPhone 18e, which Digital Chat Station also mentions.
The leaker doesn’t specify how much the iPhone 18’s price might increase compared to its predecessor. All of Apple’s old models, including the iPhone 17, got a $100 price hike in September. Google and Samsung have also raised phone prices by the same amount over the past year, driven by shortages of RAM and other components. Earlier this week, Apple reported record-breaking iPhone sales, despite the higher prices.
