Veteran actress, Joke Silva, has thanked Nigerians and others who supported her family following the death of her husband, veteran actor Olu Jacobs.
Silva, in an Instagram post on Saturday, thanked those who offered prayers, sent messages and made contributions towards the actor’s funeral.
She said the 40-day period following his death had passed, adding that the family was grateful for the love and support received.
“The 40 days have come and gone, and as we reflect on this period, my family and I would like to express our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to you all for standing by us following the passing of my beloved husband, Pa Olu Jacobs,” she wrote.
The actress said the support, including visits, calls, thoughtful gifts and financial contributions, had brought comfort to the family.
She also thanked those who honoured Jacobs’ life and celebrated his legacy as a husband, father, grandfather, colleague and friend.
“We do not take your love and generosity for granted. We are truly humbled and deeply grateful,” she added.
Silva signed the message on behalf of the Jacobs family, praying for God to bless and strengthen those who supported them.
Jacobs died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84. His death was announced by his son, Olusoji Jacobs, who described him as the “Lion of Lufodo”.
The actor was laid to rest in Lagos on October 2 after a funeral service at This Present House, Lekki. The ceremony was attended by family members, government officials and several figures from the entertainment industry.
Jacobs had a career spanning more than five decades across theatre, television and film. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London before appearing in British television productions and international films.
He later became one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actors, known for his portrayals of traditional rulers, chiefs and family patriarchs.
He and Silva, whom he married in 1989, co-founded the Lufodo Group and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts.
