Leeds United are reportedly preparing a move for Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi when the January transfer window opens.

According to Football Insider, Daniel Farke’s side are keen to strengthen their left-back position and have identified the Nigerian international as one of their key targets.

Sanusi is expected to provide competition for Sweden international Gabriel Gudmundsson, who has impressed since joining the club in 2025.

Despite Gudmundsson’s impressive performances, Leeds are eager to bring in another left-back to provide additional depth and competition.

The Whites have previously considered signing Sanusi during the last two transfer windows and are continuing to monitor his situation before deciding whether to make a formal approach.

The 29-year-old’s current contract with Porto expires next summer, and the Portuguese giants are reportedly unwilling to offer him a new deal.

This could allow Leeds to secure his services for a reduced fee in January rather than risk missing out on him as a free agent at the end of the season.

Sanusi joined Porto from fellow Portuguese side Santa Clara in 2020 and has since enjoyed considerable success, winning two Primeira Liga titles with the club.

At international level, the left-back has made 32 appearances for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
