Vice-President Kashim Shettima has taken the lead in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in Nasarawa State, urging voters to return the President for a second term and rally behind Senator Ahmed Wadada, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, while pledging more development projects if the party retains power.
Shettima made the appeal on Wednesday at the APC presidential campaign rally in Lafia, where he acknowledged the hardship experienced by residents, particularly difficulties associated with transportation and movement of agricultural produce.
Addressing the crowd, Shettima said the Tinubu and Governor Abdullahi Sule administrations were concerned about residents’ welfare, adding that the construction of a bypass linking Nasarawa to Makurdi and Shendam was part of efforts to address their challenges.
“The government of President Tinubu and that of A.A. Sule are very concerned about the well-being of the people, and we have seen all the hardship endured by the people,” he said.
Shettima urged voters to return Tinubu for a second term, promising that the President would do more for the state, while calling for the election of Wadada as governor.
He also demanded an across-the-board APC victory, insisting that voters should support the party’s candidates in all elective positions.
“We don’t want to hear that they vote for APC in the Senate and leave the House of Representatives aside. What we want is APC on all corners,” the Vice-President said.
Similarly, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, urged Nigerians to support Tinubu, citing what he described as unprecedented cooperation between the executive and legislature.
