Scotland men and women win European openers

European Curling Championships 2026: Scotland men reach semis

Scotland's men remain unbeaten at the European Curling Championships as they sealed a semi-final spot with a 10-3 demolition of Austria.

Grant Hardie's rink made it four wins from four in Group A, ending the contest in the sixth end with a second successive score of four.

They meet Italy at 08:30 GMT on Saturday, live on BBC iPlayer, before the medal matches get under way.

Scotland's women also clinched a place in the last four with a game to spare after a tense extra-end triumph over Estonia on Thursday.

The Scots suffered their first defeat of the group stage earlier, losing 10-2 to Sweden.

Despite trailing 8-3 after six ends to Estonia, Henderson and her team rallied to score three and then steal two to force an extra end.

Then Scotland managed a crucial steal to win it 9-8 when Estonia skip Marie Kaldvee was unable to clear a Scottish stone with a raise-takeout.

Henderson's rink finish off their Group B campaign against Lithuania at 13:00 GMT on Friday, live on BBC iPlayer.

"It's an absolute dream, it's our first Euros as a team and we came here to win this week," Henderson told World Curling.

"I think that fight back showed what we're capable of as a team. We go out there to win every game."
