Former White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia slammed Piers Morgan for attempting to get 'gotcha' moments out of her during a tense interview.
Morgan interviewed Zacharia for an episode of his show published on Wednesday, but the conversation quickly soured after he kept pressing her about her reaction to spending just five days as press secretary before Trump asked her to step down.
Morgan asked Zacharia how she responded to Trump saying, 'Was this really for you?' before laying her off, but she refused to answer and said: 'I will keep private conversations between myself and the president confidential.'
The former press secretary then said she would 'continue fighting' for Trump and described herself as 'ruthlessly loyal.' She also said that she wanted to focus on discussing the upcoming midterm elections.
Morgan then told Zacharia 'you sound like a robot' and said she would not be 'betraying' Trump's loyalty by answering his questions.
'And when it comes to loyalty, he did fire you after five days. I mean, that's what happened. He did it very nicely, but he made it clear to the world, this wasn't gonna last much longer than five days,' Morgan added.
After the interview, Zacharia took to X to describe that moment and others from the interview as Morgan unsuccessfully attempting to get 'gotcha moments.'
Her tweet came in response to a clip of the interview that was posted along with a caption that said: 'BRUTAL. JUST ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL. Perhaps the most uncomfortable interview I’ve EVER watched.'

Morgan interviewed Zacharia for an episode of his show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, that was published on Wednesday
'You can spin your bulls*** however you want,' Zacharia replied to the post.
'It was uncomfortable because Piers never got his gotcha moment despite two attempts. Changing the topics (despite denial) and not informing me Scaramucci was a guest.'
The last part of Zacharia's tweet referred to a moment about halfway through the interview, when Morgan brought on former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci.
Scaramucci spent just 10 days in the role in 2017 during Trump's first term, a remarkably short tenure that Morgan described as similar to Zacharia's experience.
'You've been right where Katie is,' Morgan told Scaramucci as he came on the show.
Zacharia initially smiled as the former communications director came on, but her face dropped as Morgan said: 'She's been mocked mercilessly, as you were. She's been the laughing stock, as you were, etcetera, etcetera.'
Morgan asked Scaramucci how he felt when he saw what happened to Zacharia and what he would say to her.
Scaramucci replied, 'I'm not here to be Katie's life coach,' before praising the way she handled the media fallout after she was fired and giving her performance during the interview with Morgan an 'A plus.'
Zacharia also criticized Morgan for not telling her that he would bring on former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci. She is pictured smiling as he came on the show

He then said that Washington DC has a cutthroat atmosphere and that: 'The shots come from inside in a job like that... You think these people in Washington are your friends, and they say nice things to you, but then they try to shiv you.'
Scaramucci added that he has disagreements with the president but respects that Zacharia still likes him. She replied by once again heaping praise on Trump.
'I was able to receive the job opportunity because I was authentic with who I am, and I'm gonna leave authentic with who I am, and I am gonna continue fighting for the president because that is what I know I am called to do,' Zacharia said.
Zacharia's conversation with Morgan was not her first uncomfortable tango during a broadcasted interview.
The former press secretary was grilled about her legal credentials by Fox News's Sean Hannity when she appeared on his show on October 15, just one day before she stepped down as press secretary.
Zacharia later appeared on Newsmax and revealed that she had been expecting a cordial conversation because Hannity had previously defended her on air.
She said the interview left her 'perplexed about what happened' but added, 'I never bow away from a fight or back away from a fight,' when asked if she would ever return to Hannity's show.
