Donald Trump will no longer attend his highly-anticipated Kansas rally on the eve of the midterm elections in a move shocking Republican insiders.
Instead, the rally will be a virtual event, sources told the Associated Press. The White House confirmed President Trump will host more than 20 tele-rallies before election day.
The president previously held a campaign rally on October 19 in Park City, Kansas, but it is unclear why his October 31 event was scrapped.
Trump headed to the South Carolina today to support Darline Graham in the razor-tight race to fill the seat of her brother, the late Senator Lindsey Graham who died of heart disease in July at 71 years old.
Control of Congress is at stake in the 2026 midterms and Republicans are working to maintain their narrow majorities in both the House and Senate, while Democrats are trying to flip the chambers.
Democrats currently hold a significant 8.2 per cent lead over Republicans with just a few days to go until votes are counted, with the party poised for their largest blowout since Obama's 2008 sweep.
