A one-year-old toddler tragically died in the parking lot of a California private school after falling from a vehicle, police said.
The child fell from the vehicle at around 4pm Tuesday outside Northern Light School in Oakland, California.
Authorities believe the child may have been struck by another vehicle in the parking lot after the fall, Oakland Fire Department public information officer Michael Hunt said.
Emergency crews treated the child and performed CPR in the parking lot, before the toddler was transported to hospital where the child died, Hunt said.
The Northern Light School is a private pre-K through eighth-grade school in Oakland Hills, with tuition fees starting at $17,000 per year.
An investigation into the horror incident has been opened, and police say at this point they do not know whether alcohol or drugs were a factor, reports ABC7.
The Daily Mail has contacted the Oakland Police Department for updates on the case and any potential actions taken against the driver.
