A family in Oregon were left horrified after they spotted a rodent staring down at them from the ceiling of a Cheesecake Factory during a birthday celebration.
Maria Hernandez, 19, and her family were out for dinner to celebrate her mother's birthday on October 14 at the restaurant in Clackamas Town Center.
But the family meal took a sharp turn after they heard other diners talking to a server while pointing up to the ceiling.
'Oh my God, look,' Hernandez said to her sister as she looked up.
'Is that a rat?' one person responded.
What the horrified family spotted appeared to be a rodent scurrying across the restaurant ceiling, as a pointy nose and two rounded ears peered over their table.
Hernandez captured the rat looking down at their food on video before it ran above the family's heads.
'We really thought it was going to just jump down because it was just looking at us and it was looking at the food right there on the table,' she told the Oregonian.

According to the outlet, their server offered Hernandez and her 12 family members at the celebration another table and freshly made food.
However, they instead opted to leave the restaurant and dine at a nearby Mexican restaurant, with the Cheesecake Factory not charging them for the meal, she told the Oregonian.
Clips of the incident were shared on TikTok, with users sharing their horror over the experience while others saw more light in the situation.
'girlllll not it being above YOUUUU,' one user wrote.
'Immediate refund,' another said.
'Nooooooooo why did you show me this I eat here all the time,' a third said.

'That's just Remy from Ratatouille there to make you dinner. It's gonna be delicious!!' another joked.
'Relax, that's just the head chef,' one comment read, with an image of the rat from the hit Disney Pixar animated film attached.
'Everyone loves the movie Ratatouille until Remy actually comes out and sees who is enjoying his cooking,' a fourth laughed.
The Daily Mail reached out to the Cheesecake Factory's corporate office for comment.
