Award-winning psychic, 44, died after falling down flight of stairs, inquest hears

An award-winning psychic died after she fell down a flight of stairs, an inquest has heard.

Kate Golby, 44, had been working from home at her property in Norwich, Norfolk on the day of the accident.

The mother-of-three, who also worked as a coach and motivational speaker, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where she died two days later.

Her son had found her unresponsive at the bottom of the stairs, an inquest into Ms Golby's death heard at Norwich Coroner's Court on Wednesday.

In a tribute read out at court, Kate's family said: 'To call her death a tragedy would be an understatement.'

It added that she was a 'loving mother and daughter' who was 'endlessly devoted to achieving her dreams'.

The daughter of Ms Golby, who also used the name Kate Oman, launched a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of her funeral.

She said: 'I'm raising money in memory of my mum Katie Oman who recently passed away. Her sudden passing has seriously shaken the whole family.

'We have received so many kind messages from her friends and clients, many of whom have offered support.

'My mum helped countless people all around the world with coaching, writing, and events like Rise.

'She was loved and known by so many and I felt that raising funds towards her funeral would be a meaningful and heartfelt way for people to show their support.'

The inquest heard there was no evidence of third party involvement, nor any witnesses or footage of the fall.

The hearing was also told she had no underlying medical conditions.

Ms Golby, who also used the name Kate Oman, was known as 'the Sparkle Coach' and wrote several books on self-help, spiritual beliefs and self-esteem.

One of her publications – Chasing Rainbows – was named 'Best Spiritual Book' at the 2017 Soul and Spirit Awards.

She was also a women's empowerment coach, providing online courses and lessons, as well as events director and chief executive of ProspHER.

In a profile online, she was described as 'a leading expert in the art of achieving happiness'.

It said she had practised as a psychic since 2010 and used tarot and angel cards.

Ms Golby's medical cause of death was listed as 'severe extensive traumatic brain injury' and 'fall down stairs'.

The court also heard that she was born on October 15, 1981 in Birkenhead, Merseyside.

Area coroner Johanna Thompson came to a shortform conclusion that Ms Golby's death was accidental.

Ms Thompson expressed condolences to her family and friends.
