Trump-backed Max Miller loses re-election bid after ex-wife and two-year-old daughter 'abuse' claims tanked his race

Trump-backed Max Miller loses re-election bid after ex-wife and two-year-old daughter 'abuse' claims tanked his race

Republican Congressman Max Miller has lost Ohio's 7th District to Democrat Brian Poindexter, after the Daily Mail exposed abuse allegations that left the two-term congressman isolated inside his own party.

Miller lost with 45.7 percent to Poindexter's 54.6 percent with 88 percent of the vote counted, according to the Associated Press.

Trump carried the district by about 11 points during the 2024 presidential election.

In May, the Daily Mail broke the story of Miller's ex-wife, Emily Moreno, accusing him in court filings of scalding her with hot water, holding a gun to her head and hitting her.

Moreno also accused Miller of fracturing their two-year-old daughter's collarbone. He has not been charged and denies all the allegations.

Her father, Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno, said in August that Miller should not serve in the House. Moreno said Miller 'needs serious psychological help.'

Former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, who dated Miller in 2019 and 2020, has also accused him of abuse and sued him in July.

Miller denied every allegation, sued both women for defamation and asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate him.

He refused GOP pressure to quit before the August withdrawal deadline, and Cook moved the race to Toss Up.

Once it was clear Miller would stay in, members of Trump’s political team urged Ohio Republicans not to wage a public pressure campaign against him.

Poindexter, 47, is a union ironworker and a former Brook Park city councilman.

Miller ran ads accusing Poindexter of possessing crack cocaine and of being arrested for slapping a man at a baseball game. Poindexter says he has been open about his record.

Miller, a former Trump aide, was first elected in 2022 and won Trump's endorsement in May.

A Republican firm’s survey in early August had Poindexter ahead 47 percent to 33 percent, with Miller’s support among Republicans below 70 percent.

Miller conceded the race during a Tuesday night tweet: 'I am disappointed at this evening’s election results. I have fought earnestly to continue to represent the interests of my home and community in the Ohio 7th District.'

'A lot of working people decided to put all our differences aside to unite around one of us. In that unity, we beat the big-moneyed interests. We beat the corporate PACs. We beat the nasty ads. We beat the powerful and we did it together,' Poindexter said at his victory speech.

Lively gave a glimpse into her cozy wind-down routine shortly after the drama involving her film It Ends With Us and her director and costar Justin Baldoni.

'Natural beauty is effortless,' she quipped at the bottom of her post, which pictured her taking a deep breath while the mask covered her face.

Lively also drew thought bubbles around her face, and in one, she wrote: 'If I don't look like I'm in the first trimester of life after this much effort I quit.'

She continued: 'I miss the 2000s when we just used that handsoap with fish characters on it on our face & called it a day.'

The Gossip Girl star also noted the lights in the background of her room in another thought bubble: 'My kids' star projector that I stole is a vibe tho.'

She set her candid post to the tune of Fergie and Ludacris' 2006 smash hit Glamorous.

'The look: no time but need to look cute while ALSO raising children,' the movie star, who was seen using products from her Blake Brown haircare brand, wrote over the clip.

'Moment of truth: bun out after running around the city,' she continued, before almost running out the door with her pants unbuttoned.

Her post comes after she was in a legal battle with Baldoni, and the former costars settled right before their trial was set to begin.

Baldoni was ultimately ordered to pay $400,000 of Lively's legal fees.

Lively previously sued Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer in December 2024.

Right before their trial was set to begin earlier this year, Lively was awarded just over $400,000 of the $8 million she sought in legal fees from their dispute due to his countersuit.

In her lawsuit, Lively asserted that she was subjected to sexual harassment as well as retaliation, alleging he orchestrated a smear campaign to harm her reputation after she brought up complaints about his behavior on set.

In response, Baldoni denied harassment and claimed Lively made complaints to seize creative control of the movie.

In June 2025, the countersuit was thrown out. In May of this year, just two weeks before the scheduled trial date, the former costars reached their settlement.

They also released a joint statement, writing that they 'remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments.'
