Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has sworn in three commissioners and 10 special advisers, urging them to remain humble, disciplined and committed to serving the people.

The governor warned the appointees against arrogance, indiscipline, corruption and abuse of public office, stressing that none of them should consider themselves indispensable.

Oyebanji gave the warning on Wednesday during the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House in Ado Ekiti.

He said his second term in office should not be an opportunity for complacency but a period to build on the achievements of his first administration and accelerate development in the state.

“I will like to counsel you to resist the temptation of the illusion of invincibility and indispensability, which could ultimately breed arrogance. At the end of the day, only God is truly indispensable.

“We must all therefore remain gracious and wholeheartedly dedicated to our unwavering service to the good people of Ekiti State,” he said.

The governor added that his administration would not condone unethical behaviour, unnecessary bureaucratic delays or avoidable mistakes capable of frustrating its development plans.

He urged the appointees to take their responsibilities seriously, noting that discipline and prompt service delivery would be central to his second term.

Oyebanji said his administration had put structures in place to ensure that the second term began without delays, adding that there was no time to waste in fulfilling its promises to the people.

The three commissioners sworn in are Mr Dayo Apata (SAN), Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Mr Akintunde Oyebode, Commissioner for Finance; and Dr Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner for Health and Human Services.

The 10 special advisers are Prof. James Olaleye, e-GIS, Lands and Survey; Mr James Folorunso, Bureau of Public Procurement; Dr John Moyo Ekundayo, Office of Transformation, Strategy and Delivery; Mr Bunmi Talabi, Bureau of Special Projects; and Mr Olayinka Oyebode, Media.

Others are Princess Adetoun Agboola, Special Education and Social Inclusion; Dr Gbenga Oyewole, Development, Planning and Budget; Mr Kayode Adaramodu, Economic Affairs and Private Sector Development; Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, Agriculture and Food Security; and Prof. Akeem Azeez, Special Duties.

Oyebanji was sworn in for a second term on October 16, following his re-election in the June 20 governorship election.
