Council to coordinate nationwide mobilisation, unveils leadership team
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted its National Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, naming former Bayelsa State Governor Henry Seriake Dickson as Chairman with Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso occupying key positions in the campaign structure.
In a statement announcing the development, the party said the Council would provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise support for its vision of a “new, just, and prosperous Nigeria”.
Dickson, the NDC national leader, will chair the council, while Obi, identified by the party as its Presidential candidate, will serve as co-chairman. Kwankwaso, also identified as the party’s vice-presidential candidate, will serve as vice-chairman.
Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, the NDC National Chairman, is listed as co-vice-chairman, while Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party’s national secretary, will serve as council secretary. Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim has been named director-general.
The composition places the party’s leading figures at the centre of its campaign coordination ahead of the 2027 polls, with the council expected to oversee mobilisation and the organisation of campaign activities across the country.
The party said it is committed to running a people-centred, issue-based campaign, although the announcement did not outline specific policy proposals, campaign timelines or the council’s operational structure.
The NDC also urged its members, supporters and Nigerians to remain united and focused as preparations for the elections gather pace.
The announcement comes as political parties begin positioning their leadership and campaign structures ahead of the 2027 general elections. The NDC’s stated objective is to build a nationwide campaign around its proposed vision for governance and national development.
