A woman rang triple zero and said 'my husband nearly killed me' minutes before a neighbour saw her in her driveway completely on fire, a jury has been told.
The neighbour heard a 'piercing scream' before seeing the Sydney woman on fire and her husband 'quite close to her', prosecutor Chris Maxwell QC said on Monday.
'That fire was fuelled by petrol subsequently discovered in the remains of her clothes when scientifically tested,' he said in the Crown's opening address to the NSW Supreme Court jury.

Ms Kaur, whose triple-zero call was played to the jury, was rushed to hospital but efforts to save her life failed.
Police and ambulance officers had responded to a triple-zero call made by a neighbour at 2.17pm on December 2. Ms Kaur's call was made 12 minutes earlier.
'Ms Kaur is speaking in a relatively soft low voice,' Mr Maxwell said.
Ms Kaur was 'doused in petrol' before she was set alight and later died of her injuries
After giving her address she said 'my husband nearly killed me' before the operator asked: 'What did he do to you?' But there was no answer and the call was terminated.
'The Crown points to this call as a desperate cry for help from Ms Kaur,' the prosecutor said.
He is continuing his opening address.
