A five-year-old Florida boy was killed after a smart classroom display board fell on him just days after a teacher had asked for it to be tightened, a harrowing 911 call revealed.
Bellamy Dawkins-Morris had a Promethean board fall on him during class at Riviera Elementary in Palm Bay on October 7. A Promethean board is an interactive display screen used in classrooms across America.
A distressed caller told 911 dispatchers that Dawkins-Morris 'took the Promethean board off the wall and it landed on him,' WESH 2 reported.
The teacher went on to say that she had asked someone to 'tighten this the other day.'
About a minute into the phone call, she told dispatchers that Dawkins-Morris, who is autistic, was 'unresponsive.'
School staff tried to perform life-saving measures. Dawkins-Morris was transported to a medical center, where resuscitation efforts continued, according to NBC Miami. He was later pronounced dead.
The weight of a Promethean board is dependent on the size. The 55-inch models weigh up to roughly 65 pounds, while the 86-inch models weigh nearly 150 pounds, according to the company.
'The biggest question is, how did this happen?' the family's lawyer, Maegan Bridwell, told WFTV.

'How did an interactive piece of technology injure and kill a student? How did it come off the wall? How was it allowed to come off the wall? Why did this happen?'
Promethean boards are installed using a mount or bracket and wall anchors, the company instruction videos showed.
The family hired legal counsel to determine who is responsible for their son's death.
'Our job now that we’ve been retained by the family is to identify anyone who was responsible for not only the design, but the installation and the maintenance of this heavy, heavy equipment installed in our classrooms,' Bridwell told the outlet.
'The family is devastated. I don’t think, unless you’re a parent who’s lost a child, you can understand this unfathomable loss they’ve endured as a family.'
Brevard Public Schools told WESH 2 that it has 'completed its inspection of more than 3,000 boards and found no pattern of improper installations.'
'We are currently awaiting the final inspection report.'
His mother, Dejia Naomi, said in a Facebook post that the boy was making 'strides' with his autism, and that he loved music and was the 'most bubbly child I knew.'

'I am grateful to have had the time I spent with you no matter how little a time it was,' the heartbroken mother-of-two wrote.
'Never in a million years did I think I'd be forced to outlive you. My soul hurts. You're such a big part of who I am; I lost a huge part of me. I miss you so much, my beautiful boy.
'My brain will never forget your smile, the way you laughed, how you played, and how much you grew, nor the impact you had on others. Your existence altered my brain chemistry. I love you so much, Bellz. I will love you always, my Bellamy. Rest in heaven, my heart.'
Promethean told NBC Miami that it was 'heartbroken by the death of a child' and that 'no words can ease the pain of such a loss.'
'We extend our deepest condolences to the child's family and loved ones, and to the students, teachers, and staff of Riviera Elementary who are grieving with them.'
It also announced it has opened an investigation into the incident and will 'cooperate fully with school officials and any other authorities investigating this incident in every way we can.'
The Daily Mail has contacted Brevard Public Schools for comment.
