The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed confidence in Dr Kadri Hamzat’s capacity to deliver on the Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E agenda.

Obasa made the assertion in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Research, Media and Documentation, Mr Adeshina Oyetayo, on Saturday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the formal presentation of Hamzat’s manifesto, tagged Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E (Ileri Eko), was held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Iganmu, Lagos.

Dr Obafemi Hamzat

The manifesto, an acronym for People First, Renewal, Opportunity, Machinery of Government, Inclusion, Security and Resilience, and Everyday Dignity, outlines priorities across key sectors.

The Speaker described the manifesto as a thoughtful and practical blueprint reflecting a robust understanding of Lagos State’s opportunities and challenges.

He commended the intellectual rigour and clear vision behind its formulation, saying Hamzat’s educational background, experience in private and public service, and broad exposure had prepared him for effective leadership.

“For someone with accretion of insight, experience, education and exposure, I do not doubt that Dr Hamzat will sustain and build upon the developmental trajectory of Lagos State.

“He has the competence, character, and most importantly, the determination to rewrite the Lagos State socio-economic narrative,” Obasa said.

He expressed confidence that Hamzat would build on the foundations already laid in the state and deliver on the commitments contained in the manifesto.

“The agenda includes transportation, environmental resilience, flood and waste management, housing, security, healthcare, education and economic opportunities, among others.

“It also emphasises continuity, accountability, measurable outcomes and people-centred governance, while proposing the consolidation of existing infrastructure projects, including the state’s rail lines,” he added.

Obasa said Lagosians should expect a new governance experience, noting that the manifesto contained timelines against which Hamzat’s performance could be assessed.

He said the document would provide a framework for accountability and enable residents to measure the implementation of the candidate’s policy commitments.

Hamzat is the All Progressives Congress candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
