A five-year-old girl was shot during Halloween just moments after she returned home from trick-or-treating in Detroit.
Preschooler Elvanya Martin was playing in the back room of her Michigan home when multiple bullets rang out, with at least one piercing her chest.
She miraculously survived while still wearing her Halloween costume, saying 'I was shot, ma. I think I was shot,' her older brother, Elijah Martin, told Fox 2.
Elvanya's mother rushed her to the Children's Hospital of Michigan, where she had to undergo surgery Monday morning, according to Martin.
Martin said his little sister is being kept in the hospital until she gets the 'full range' of use in her left arm, 'until she could do a thumbs up, cross her fingers and put up the peace sign is when they will release her,' Martin told CBS NEWS.
Martin posted live updates of his sister's health to his Instagram page, writing that he believes the bullet struck just under her collarbone.
The following day, Martin added that Elvanya has a broken collarbone and two broken ribs.
'Please pray for us as we help her with this journey,' he wrote.

In one of Martin's Instagram highlight updates, he wrote that Elvanya was admitted to the ICU on November first; he thinks the bullet may be stuck under her collarbone

Just yesterday, Martin shared a post of Elvanya's recovery; the five-year-old is seen with an oxygen mask as she said, 'I'm okay.'
'They just took her off the oxygen before I came down.'
'Knowing the trauma that comes behind being shot. Being targeted or anything, it’s like, where can we go for these kids to be kids,' Martin told Fox 2 reporters.
The shooting of Elvanya is an ongoing investigation, as no arrests have been made and the assailant has not been found.
The Detroit Police Department told Fox 2 that it is 'making progress.'
A GoFundMe account has been created by Elvanya's sister, Eleze, writing, 'she has to go to both physical and mental therapy; the bullet broke her collarbone and both back ribs.'
Eleze said any donation would be appreciated.
The Daily Mail has reached out to the Detroit Police Department for a further update on the incident.
