GIG Mobility (GIGM), an intercity road transport operator in West Africa, is expanding its presence in Nigeria’s travel market by launching a premium vehicle hire service and an integrated travel and tours platform in Abuja.
The company said the two platforms, hireX and PASS by GIGM, would begin operations on Tuesday, November 4, as it seeks to extend its services beyond intercity bus transportation and tap into demand for corporate mobility, executive travel and wider travel bookings.
hireX is designed to provide chauffeur-driven vehicles that customers can book by the hour or day, with services covering executive movement, airport transfers, interstate journeys, group travel and event transportation.
The platform will combine vehicles owned by GIGM with cars supplied by verified partner operators in Abuja, offering customers upfront pricing and vetted drivers.
PASS, on the other hand, is an integrated travel and tours platform that brings together intercity bus tickets, flight bookings, hotel reservations, airport pickups and curated local and international tours in one application.
The launch marks an expansion of GIGM’s business model from road transportation into other segments of the travel and mobility market, as operators seek to offer customers more connected services through digital platforms.
Enahoro Okhae, chief executive officer of GIGM, in a statement that the company was introducing the services to address the transportation and travel needs of Abuja residents, particularly professionals and organisations whose activities depend on reliable movement.
“Abuja runs on schedules: meetings, ministries, embassies, flights. The people who keep this city moving deserve transport that keeps up with them. For nearly three decades, Nigerians have trusted GIGM with their intercity journeys. On November 4, we bring that same trust to every part of the trip in the capital,” Okhae said.
The company said hireX would serve individuals and organisations requiring chauffeur-driven vehicles for business engagements, airport transfers and other mobility needs.
Jude Odum, chief operating officer of GIGM, said the company was already engaging organisations in Abuja ahead of the launch, particularly corporates, embassies and non-governmental organisations seeking transport and travel management services.
“We’re already working with organisations in Abuja ahead of launch. Corporates, embassies and NGOs that want one partner for executive transport, staff movement and travel management should talk to us now. Early partners will help shape how we serve the city,” Odum said.
The company said hireX would be accessible through its website, hirex.gigmobility.co, and the GIGM application, while PASS would be available through the application and the company’s website, gigm.com.
GIGM said it operates more than 40 terminals across Nigeria and Ghana, describing itself as West Africa’s largest intercity road transport company.
The company also said that the expansion into vehicle hire and integrated travel booking reflects the company’s strategy to leverage its existing transport network and customer base to participate in a wider range of travel services.
