Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, on Tuesday said the corps has arrested 301 suspects and secured 27 convictions for various crimes across the state between August and October 2026.

Adeleye disclosed this in Akure while parading 15 suspects arrested for various offences and presenting the agency’s operational scorecard for the three-month period.

He, however, said the corps had also concluded arrangements to deploy 1,200 personnel across the 18 local government areas of the state for intensified security operations during the ember months, with particular attention to border communities, major highways and identified black spots.

According to him, the ember months operation would involve intelligence-led surveillance across major roads, enhanced forest patrols by Amotekun Rangers and electronic monitoring of identified criminal hideouts to guarantee the safety of lives and property.

He said, “We are terminating the old operation to commence our full ember months patrol. This comprises intelligence-led surveillance across the 18 local governments, enhanced patrol of the Amotekun Rangers in the forest and ensuring that all black spots in the state are properly monitored, both electronically and otherwise.”

The commander, who said the operation was designed to accommodate the expected influx of people into and out of the state, assured residents and commuters of round-the-clock security coverage, particularly along major roads, forest reserves and the state’s boundaries.

Giving details of the suspects paraded, Adeleye said they included four persons arrested for violating the state’s anti-grazing law, two for breach of law and order, and nine others linked to kidnapping-related offences.

He disclosed that the corps had apprehended suspected members of a kidnapping gang allegedly responsible for the abduction of a poultry farmer and the killing of a female victim, adding that the suspects had been identified by the surviving victim and had confessed to their involvement.

The Amotekun boss said the three of the suspects were directly linked to a kidnapping incident in Berilegi, while another was arrested in connection with a separate abduction in Ala-Dada. He identified the suspects as Ali,30, Yusuf, 30, Sadiq, 27, and Moshood, 22.

The commander also further disclosed that two suspects, Usman and Suleiman, were arrested in Elegbeka for allegedly violating the state’s anti-grazing law, while other suspects were apprehended over burglary, stealing and the looting of public schools in Ile-Oluji and Elegbeka.

He said some of the suspects were caught allegedly removing roofing materials from school buildings after computers and other valuables had been stolen, while the corps had recovered items, including television sets and mobile phones, from suspected burglars.

On the overall performance of the corps, Adeleye said 27 of the 301 suspects arrested during the period had been convicted and were either serving various jail terms or fulfilling conditions attached to options of fine.

He added that the corps had also deployed alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to settle 102 cases involving parties, noting that the successes recorded were made possible through collaboration with Amotekun ambassadors, intelligence operatives, local vigilantes and other security stakeholders across the state.

Adeleye also announced the commencement of Operation ‘Laafia DanDan’, alongside a training and retraining programme for personnel across the 18 local government areas, particularly investigating officers, drivers and mechanics. He said the exercise would strengthen investigation, criminal record management, arrests and prosecution.

He warned that suspects whose investigations had been concluded would be charged before the appropriate courts, including the High Court and Magistrates’ Courts, depending on the nature of their offences, while appealing to residents to continue providing timely and actionable intelligence to security agencies.
