A 58-year-old Tennessee Republican running for a US House seat is blaming his 'youthful indiscretions' for sending unsolicited nude photos, with one sent as recently as five years ago.
State Senator Brent Taylor acknowledged sending nude photos in the past after the Nashville Scene reported Tuesday that multiple sources said they had received or seen the images.
One person told the publication they received an unsolicited nude photo from Taylor in 2021, when he was 53.
A second source independently corroborated the existence of nude photos.
'As I near 60 years old, the expiration date has come and gone on any of my youthful indiscretions,' Taylor told the outlet.
'Whatever story you think you've got, my wife is well aware of and we've worked through it a long time ago. My god and my wife have forgiven me, and I would consider everyone else doing the same.'
He acknowledged his past behavior, saying, 'All I can tell you is, in the past, I've been guilty of being a rounder, back in the day.'
A 'rounder' is slang for someone who regularly goes out partying, drinking, gambling or chasing women.
Tennessee State Senator Brent Taylor was accused by multiple people of sending unsolicited nude photos as recently as five years ago. Taylor has been married to his wife, Kimberly for over 30 years
'As I near 60 years old, the expiration date has come and gone on any of my youthful indiscretions,' Taylor told the Nashville Scene
President Donald Trump endorsed Taylor in July, calling him a 'Highly Respected State Senator' and promising voters that he would 'NEVER LET YOU DOWN'
The allegations raise questions about the private conduct of a Republican who has presented himself as a conservative Christian, devoted husband and father.
His Democratic opponent, Representative Justin Pearson, called the act disturbing.
In a post on X, he wrote:
'I'm disturbed to learn of Brent Taylor's pattern of sending unsolicited nude photos to multiple women.
The fact that he would dismiss his behavior as 'youthful indiscretions' despite it happening recently, in his fifties, & while he held government office is ridiculous,' he added.
'This is the type of predatory behavior that needs to be rooted out of our society and politics,' Taylor continued.
He accused Taylor and President Trump of abusing their power and escaping accountability, arguing that Tennessee needs leaders who respect women rather than sexually harass, expose themselves to, or exploit them.
Taylor, who has served in the Tennessee Senate since November 2022, won the Republican nomination for Tennessee's 9th Congressional District in August.
Pearson and Taylor are competing for a redistricted seat that was abandoned by Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen.
He announced last spring that he would not seek reelection after Tennessee Republicans split his Memphis-based district among three redrawn districts
Trump endorsed Taylor in July, calling him a 'Highly Respected State Senator.'
Trump praised Taylor for his conservative credentials and pledged that he would work to secure the border, combat migrant crime, support law enforcement and advance the president's agenda.
Taylor has also secured backing from some of the Republican Party's most senior figures, including Tennessee Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, who have praised his candidacy and his focus on public safety and fighting crime.
Taylor's campaign biography describes a family man whose wife, Kimberly, has stood by him through more than 30 years of marriage.
The couple have two adult children.
He and his wife live in Eads, Tennessee, and are active members of Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova.
The Daily Mail reached out to Taylor for comment.
