Edves, a Nigerian education technology company, has expanded its artificial intelligence (AI) tools as its platform reaches more than 2,300 schools across 12 countries, supporting over 625,000 students, 57,000 teachers and 387,000 parents.

The company, which marked 10 years of operations on October 24, 2026, said it was deepening the application of AI in education while expanding its international footprint.

Founded in Nigeria in 2016, Edves has evolved from digitising school administration to providing technology for online learning, assessments, curriculum management and AI-supported teaching.

According to a statement by Mary Ayo-Aina, the company’s communications executive, its growth reflects the increasing role of digital technology in addressing operational challenges across education systems, particularly in markets where schools need more efficient ways to manage information and improve learning outcomes.

Edves’ AI-supported tools include lesson planning, curriculum-linked assessments and teaching observation, which are designed to assist teachers with preparation and help schools gain better visibility into classroom practices.

“As artificial intelligence reshapes education, Edves is extending its platform beyond digitising paperwork. Its AI-supported tools include lesson planning, curriculum-linked assessment and teaching observation, designed to assist teachers with preparation and provide schools with better visibility into classroom practices,” Falana added.

He reaffirmed that as the second decade begins, Edves intends to deepen its application of AI in education and expand its international footprint.

These initiatives include Enugu State’s Smart Green Schools programme, which covers 260 schools, and Anambra State’s Smart Schools initiative, implemented across 22 pilot local government areas.

The company’s expansion has also been supported by industry recognition and investment. In 2017, Edves gained international recognition through CcHUB’s Intel-powered Growth Accelerator before winning the Best EdTech Prize at the 2018 Seedstars Global Summit in Switzerland.

In 2023, it secured seed funding from Beta Ventures, Fondation Botnar and Future Africa to support expansion and product development. The company did not disclose the amount raised in the statement.

As it enters its second decade, Edves plans to deepen its use of AI and expand its presence in international markets.

However, Dare Adebayo, co-founder and chief operating officer, said the next phase of growth would depend on whether the technologies delivered measurable improvements in teaching effectiveness, administrative efficiency and student learning.

“The challenge ahead is clear, translating wider adoption into tangible educational value for schools, teachers and learners, while ensuring that
technology remains a practical tool for improving education 2 across the markets it serves,” Adebayo added.
