Former Zamfara State Governor and Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s performance record and the party’s campaign efforts will secure his re-election in the January 2027 presidential election.
According to a statement issued by the APC-PCC DG Media Office and made available to journalists in Abuja on Saturday, Yari expressed confidence that Tinubu’s performance record, trust in Allah and the campaign council’s efforts to secure public support would persuade Nigerians to re-elect him.
The former Zamfara State Governor, according to the statement, spoke with journalists in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, at the weekend, where he joined Tinubu and other eminent Nigerians to perform Umrah.
He stated, “That’s what makes a leader. When you ask President Tinubu, he first prays for the country and every Nigerian. He also says that this election is one in which God has chosen the person who will be the leader, and only He can install or remove a leader.
“So, in total, I depend on Allah to do it for him as He did in 2023. By that, Allah says we should pray and work, and that all the procedures we are undertaking to campaign, talk to people, convince them and show them what we have done and achieved will, by God’s grace, convince the people to re – elect us.”
President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday to perform Umrah, the Islamic lesser pilgrimage to the holy city.
Tinubu’s aircraft, an Airbus A330-200, took off at 2:20 pm local time, following an announcement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The statement said the trip would offer the President an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.
Those accompanying the President on the pilgrimage include the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari; and the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu.
